Greetings!
We've started taking reservations for the 2012 Ireland Tour and are very excited. Over the next few weeks, we'll be posting more information about the trip. Here are a few early tips.
1. Until we get 14 reservations, the trip is not certain. That is the nature of group tours. And since this tour is small by design, we have to reach that minimum for it to fly with the host company. Last year we had 18, not including us, and it was a wonderful group.
2. Don't purchase airline tickets yet. We are monitoring ticket prices. They tend to be the lowest about four monts before departure. The Iceland volcanoes can alter that timeline a bit, and we're also monitoring that. More info on the flights will be posted here.
3. It would be good to get your travel documents in order as soon as you can. You will need a valid US Passport.
4. Money: In Ireland, they use Euros. Don't bother getting any from your bank before you go. The banks will charge you a substantial fee. The best form of payment is with a debit or credit card. The company will just charge you the normal conversion rate. But it would be wise to check with your card provider. There is a currency exchange booth at the Shannon airport, but you may do better by using an ATM. More on that later, as well.
We'll be posting a message about clothing, customs, etc, as we get closer to June.
Feel free to ask any questions that would benefit the group here. If you have more personal questions, please write to us at bill@billandkateisles.com or kate@billandkateisles.com.
